Prof. Adel A. Tawfik,  Port Said University, Egypt

I started my academic career as a teaching assistant in Suez Canal University in 1981 and I'm a professor of marine engineering and naval architecture at Port Said University, Egypt, since 2008. I have long experiences in both academic and technical fields. In academic term I have served as a Dean of the faculty of engineering, Vice dean for graduate studies and research affairs, Head of the Marine engineering and Naval Architecture Department, and finally Manager of Quality Assurance and Accreditation center, Port Said University, Egypt. In addition, I had been a visitor on leave at Steam and Gas Turbines Institute, University of Aachen, (Germany) for 2 years. At present I am a visiting professor in many institutions such as Alexandria university, Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport, College of Fisheries Technology and Aquaculture and College of Maritime Transport. Also, I am a Peer reviewer for quality assurance and accreditation of higher education (NAQAAE), Egypt.

I have a long history of research studies and publications in ship machinery, ship pollution, green fuel and energy saving. My most contribution was the improvement of marine power plants utilizing the waste heat recovery on board ships. I have authored and co- authored for more than 50 peer reviewed international journals and conferences articles and book chapters. I was deputy editor in chief for an engineering journal published by Elesiver.

In technical terms I have been a project manager for so many technical projects in national and international levels.  I have designed and Prepared ship’s specifications and supervised many sea tests, trials and delivery of tugboats, pleasure boats, supply vessels, bulk carriers, and cargo barges.
