Zhengzhou University of Light Industry was established in 1977 and was originally affiliated with the Ministry of Light Industry of China. In 1998, it transitioned to the Henan Provincial Government. The university is a collaborative institution built by the Henan Provincial Government and the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, a key university for Henan's distinctive development, and a pilot institution for internationalization in Henan Province. The university firmly adheres to the direction of socialist education, upholding the school motto "Easy to do if you act, difficult if you don't" and the school spirit of "Practical, Pragmatic, and Solid." It is rooted in the Central Plains, leveraging its advantages and characteristics to make positive contributions to the high-quality development of the country, local areas, and industries. The university currently has three campuses: the Science Campus, the Dongfeng Campus, and the Yuzhou Campus, covering an area of over 2,200 acres. There are more than 2,300 faculty and staff members and over 36,000 full-time undergraduate and graduate students. The library holds over 2.5 million various types of physical books in Chinese and foreign languages, as well as 8.77 million e-books. It has established a "National Model Digital Archives Room" and has been recognized as a model school for the construction of smart campuses in Henan Province.
